When the Lord first spoke to me about this issue of Keepers At Home, it was in the context of me feeling a little downcast over the fact that I am so busy with my children, schooling, caring for our home, running around to and fro with a multitude of activities. There were so many other “worthwhile things I felt compelled to do with my life.

The Lord spoke quite clearly to me that as a mother, I am a minister right where He has placed me. I have a ministry in my home, to my husband, to my children and to those around me that I touch on a daily basis.

I read something recently, it said “The King has placed you where you are”, meaning for me in this marriage, with these children, in this town, in this state, in this country. When I look at others and wonder if I should be somewhere else, doing something else, then I am telling God I am not content and HE has got it wrong.

It is easy for us to look around at mums with a small number of children and think they are not as “tied down” to minister elsewhere, or those who put their children in school and think they must have lots of opportunities to do “things”, or those who go out to work and believe that they must have a huge mission field in their workplace. God is showing us that we have an amazing ministry right where we are. We are the ordinary doing the extraordinary. We have the opportunity to pray, to inspire, to teach, to love, to lovingly express the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ every moment of every day. We are training our children to serve, to love and to reach out from the position that we are in right now.
